You're not alone. Many people find blush to be intimidating, or something they've simply never been interested in wearing. I'm one of them! I only started wearing blush after I turned 50, and I've never looked back... but with a pale skin tone and a desire for a natural, healthy flush, I prefer to stick with the lighter shades.
