NERIUM OLEANDER

$3.50

By popular request, I have made the Fatalis collection permanent as of 4/21/16!

This premium eyeshadow collection features truly unique, color traveling pigments that display a strong and vibrant color shift under artificial light sources. When they are in between two different light sources, you will be able to see the strongest multiple color transmission. Under direct sunlight or diffused artificial light, the effects are muted or washed out, and you will only see a slight and subtle color shift. They have a highly reflective/chrome finish, and they show the most saturated color effects and color travel when exposed to artificial lighting and especially mixed lighting of different color temperatures, much like the beautiful Alexandrite gemstone exhibits trichroism, reflecting and absorbing light differently in different directions and color temperatures.

As the pigments used in this collection are extremely costly and used as the highest percentage in the formulas (they are six times the cost of the typical duochrome/interference pigment), I have adjusted prices/sizing accordingly. Basically, you will find that these are twice the cost of other Aromaleigh eyeshadows. Example: a regular Aromaleigh sample is 1/8 tsp in a baggie for $1.25. In Fatalis, you get 1/16th tsp in a baggie for the same price of $1.25)

Recommended application for these is over a cream eyeshadow base (NYX cream eyeshadow base is my go-to!). Sticky or glue bases may work well for you, but I personally don't use these or test/swatch my products with them. With all color shifting/duochrome shades, I urge you to use a flat taklon brush or other suitable tool to flatten and align the color shifting component of the eyeshadow. This will create a more uniform and reflective surface.

Nerium oleander, our most poisonous common garden/landscaping plant. From the Halloween 2015 FATALIS collection.

Nerium- Believed to come from the Greek ‘nerion’ which is, itself, believed to be based on ‘neros’, ‘wet’ or ‘fresh’. Oleander- Possibly a combination of the Latin ‘olea’, ‘olive’ and ‘rodandrum’, ‘rhododendron’ meaning the plant looks somewhat similar to a cross between these two. "Nerium oleander is a highly toxic ornamental shrub widely cultivated in the Mediterranean. It has been grown since ancient times and features in many of the Roman wall paintings in Pompeii. Alexander the Great in his military campaigns is said to have lost men as a result of eating meat skewered on highly poisonous Nerium twigs. Nerium oleander is widely cultivated as an ornamental shrub or as an informal hedge in warm-temperate and dry subtropical regions, and as a plant for the conservatory in cooler climates. Oleander is highly poisonous to humans, pets, livestock and birds due to the presence of cardiac glycosides, mainly oleandrin. Ingestion causes nausea, vomiting, cardiac arrhythmias, hypotension (low blood pressure) and death. Its sap has been used as rat poison." (SOURCE: KEW)

Color Description: This shade has a vivid pink base that shifts to green and teal and occasionally a tinge of violet - depending on lighting conditions and angles in which you view. (Click on "Videos" above, to see rough video skin swatches of this color shot with my iPhone 5c- it doesn't show the vibrancy as well as my Nikon, but you can definitely experience the color travel in real time). Product photographs here at Aromaleigh appear more "sparkly" than these colors are in real life. This is a photographic technique used to better display hard to capture color shifts, by purposefully using shallow focus. In real life these shadows, when used with a base, obtain a smooth and almost metallic color-shifting appearance.

Sizes available- Due to the extreme high cost of the specialty pigments used, I have adjusted sizing to be half the amount for the same price. For example- a regular Aromaleigh sample is 1/8 tsp in a baggie for $1.25. In Fatalis, you get 1/16th tsp in a baggie for the same price of $1.25)

  1. Sample baggie sets (available in SETS of all ten shades only): 1/16th teaspoon in a zip baggie - ORDER HERE

  2. Demi Sample: 1/8 teaspoon in 3 gram jar. No sifter. Bottom label only. Sets available.

  3. Mini Size Jar: 3 gram jar with sifter and top/bottom labels. This size jar contains 1/2 teaspoon which has a minimum net gram weight of 1 grams. This is the same jar size/type/labeling found in the eyeshadows of the Ephemera boxes Sets available.
This formula features added ingredients for adhesion and wear, which also intensify the color shifts and make it easier to wear and blend over both bare skin and a variety of primers. Your eyeshadow will not arrive in "little balls" like some semi-loose formulas do, but it may be more difficult to get through the sifter holes. Sifters are easily removed. As always, I recommend a regular cream base such as NYX cream eyeshadow base. Your mileage may vary with sticky glue type primers.

Contains: synthetic flurophlogopite, mica, iron oxide, talc, magnesium myristate, isododecane, capric/caprylic triglyceride, dimethicone May contain: ferric ferrocyanide, red #40, ultramarine pink, carmine ** The shades "Atropa belladonna" and "Nerium oleander" contain carmine. All other shades are Vegan.
