MALACODA- eyeshadow - DISCONTINUED

$3.63 $7.26

Full size jar with sifter
** Reformulated: All sizes of this shade as of 9/1/15 are a new and improved formula. This formula features added ingredients for adhesion and wear, which also intensify the color shifts and make it easier to wear and blend over both bare skin and a variety of primers. As always, I recommend a regular cream base such as NYX eyeshadow base. Your mileage may vary with sticky glue type primers.
Malacoda has a deep purplish taupe plush matte base with an intense color-traveling duochrome effect that ranges from copper to green to aqua. It's extremely complex! This color varies a lot depending on the lighting it is viewed in- something that is common with multichromatic "color traveling" pigments.

Malacoda was the leader of the devilish Malebranche in Dante's Inferno. The name means "evil tail". (Interestingly, the name frequently translates to English as "Wormwood" when I tire of trying to translate a page that is in Italian and hit the "translate" button. Wormwood is a powerful herb which can be poisonous). Malacoda is the demon who deceived Dante and Virgil, leading them to believe he was leading them to a bridge from which to escape the 5th bolgia.

How to pronounce? Mahl-ah-kodah

Aromaleigh presents the return of the "DIAVOLI" collection:
Diavoli translates to devil in Italian, and this collection is inspired by the devilish demons of Dante Alighieri's Inferno. There's 13 colors inspired by the Malebranche of the 8th circle of Hell, which in italian is called "Malebolge", which translates to "evil ditches". The Malebranche (which means "evil claws") were 13 devilish demons who patrolled the 5th Bolgia. (only 12 are named in the Inferno). Bolgia 5 was where extortionists, blackmailers, politicians and unscrupulous businessmen: sinners who used their positions in life to gain personal wealth or other advantages for themselves) are punished by being thrown into a river of boiling tar. Should they try to escape, the Malebranche, armed with grappling hooks and barbs, stand guard over them. Visual inspiration comes from my own reader's eye, as well as illustrations and paintings by Gustav Dore, Sandro Botticelli, Giovanni di Paolo and Giovanni Stradano.

The shades in this collection all feature a plush matte base with strong color-traveling duochrome/multichrome pigments. You can experience this color traveling effect by altering the angle of light as it reflects off your eyeshadow. The easiest way to do this is to move your jar/swatched skin underneath a direct light source, such as a desk lamp. As you move it, you'll see the color switch from one to another. The effect is very dramatic in some shades.

This formula is "semi loose" and features added ingredients for adhesion and wear, which also intensify the color shifts and make it easier to wear and blend over both bare skin and a variety of primers. Your eyeshadow will not arrive in "little balls" like some semi-loose formulas do, but it may be more difficult to get through the sifter holes. Sifters are easily removed. As always, I recommend a regular cream base such as NYX cream eyeshadow base. Your mileage may vary with sticky glue type primers.
